John Deere 1954 model 50, original - 110308149926
What I have for you is a 1954 John Deere 50. I call this an original tractor because I think this is about as close to original condition as you will find. I think the paint is original with original decals. I think the motor has not been torn into. This tractor starts and runs good. It does not smoke, but I think she could use a set of rings. This is the first 50 that I have owned and It doesnt seem to have alot of compression, maybe thats just the way they were? The brakes work good, one seems to be a little soft. The tin is near perfect, VERY VERY NICE SHEET METAL. The only thing I have done to this tractor is put a new muffler on it. The rubber is good in the back, but weather cracked. All tires hold air. I dont know what happened in front, but someone has put two different tires on the front. It is also missing the clutch cover. The rear tires have lots of tread left. The grille screen is good with one small hole in it. This tractor has the usual leaks that most of them do. The clutch works fine, but kind of wants to keep creeping after dis-engaged, might need some attention eventually. This tractor has the implement sprockets on the rear axles. I was going to rattle can a paint job on this tractor, or give her a (dupont over-haul), but I could not bring myself to do it. This is one of those tractors you just have to display in her “work Clothes”. You dont see to many that are still in good running condition that are not junk. This tractor does not have power steering. The lights work part of the time (ha ha), I think it is in the switch. This tractor did not have 3 pt when I bought it, and that is the way I am selling it. The seat is some kind of plywood/home-made pillow combo, but is surprisingly comfortable. I have included some up close pics of some of the decals on the battery box, that I believe are original. Serial # is 5018112. The exhaust manifold has a chunk out of it, but not anywhere that affects it. Most of the tractors you see on here say “Great restoration project”, well i say not on this one, leave her alone drive her in parades as I did, and say this one is the real deal.The reason I am selling this one is because I always buy a couple tractors in March/April and keep them over the summer and then sell them in october/november when the farm payment is due. With all my tractors, I give a money back guarantee, if I have mis-represented them in any way. But you have to pay me within 10 days. I can deliver it for the going price, but still need paid in 10 days. It can stay here for however long, (in my shed), but has to be paid for with in 10 days, and the money back guarantee will be void after 10 days of sale ending.I will accept cash, money order, or personal check, but check must clear before I let go of the tractor. If you want a good running, original tractor here it is. She’s not perfect, but for her age, and not been touched, she’s nice.
