Old Ensign Caterpillar tractor carburetor hit miss - 180304630096
Here’s something you just don’t find very often! It’s an original Ensign carburetor for a Caterpillar tractor. I’m almost positive that it fits the Model Thirty but may fit others as well. The mounting flange mounts on 2 11/16 inch centers and has a 1 7/16 inch hole in it. The air intake is a 1 7/8 inch hole. The body of the carb is brass and the float chamber is either aluminum or white metal. None of it shows any sign of deterioration. The carb shows the usual dings and imperfections, but I will to when I’m as old as it is! Everything seems to be loose that needs to be. The number stamped on the flange is AES26. The number cast into the brass elbow is 4A1ES while the number on the throttle linkage is 4A2ES. I just can’t say enough about how tough these carburetors are to come by! If you need one to complete a restoration or just would like a spare on the shelf, here’s your chance. It’ll be quite some time before another loose one turns up. Let the pictures be your guide.
