I dug out a couple more sets of these, so here is another chance at the heavy duty Solid hob 6 inch wheels. Due to eBay’s new PayPal Only policy I can no longer offer the other payment methods, but as per their policy, Buyers Can Request to pay by other means, so don’t let the lack of a PayPal account keep you from bidding….. At least up to January 15th anyway… Of course Local Pick up with CASH is still an allowable method of payment also. This Auction is for a set of Four 6 Inch diameter by 2 Inch wide heavy duty industrial shop cart wheels with smooth running roller bearings . These have solid hubs , suitable for use with any solid flywheel hit and miss, throttle governed, 2 or 4 cycle , marine, gas or diesel engine including but not limited to : 1920’s Challenge 1 1/2 hp , Cushman Cub Husky or “X”, DeLaval built by John Lauson , Detroit Motor Car Supply’s “Sandow” engine, Fairbanks D Z or Dishpan flywheel , Fuller Johnson NC or other N series , IHC International LA or LB , Nelson Bros. , New Idea Varispeed , the final version of New Way upright engines, Oshkosh , Sieverkropp , Stover CT-1 CT-2 CT-3 CT-4 some of the Stover KA KB KE and KG engines, Stover Diesel engines, Witte type U , and most any Marine Engine. The wheels do have lettering embossed on one side, but other side is smooth. If you have access to a milling machine or a drill press with a hole saw, you could easily drill 1 inch or 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch holes around the hub to better match the CT Stover , New Idea, and others that have round holes in the flywheels or the “open disc” flywheels as Stover called them. I haveacouplesets of these , however I can only fit 4 at a time in the small Flat Rate Postal boxes at $11.00 S&H. I can ship two sets for a total of 8 wheels in the new Larger Flat Rate Boxes. With a sheet of plywood and several extra layers of cardboard to stiffen things up to carry the 40+ pounds weight, I can ship 2 sets for $15.00 Flat Rate Shipping, saving you $7.00 over the cost of shipping in 2 of the smaller boxes. UPS might be an option for larger quantities. Let me know if you need more than 4 of them,I think I can go in and make an adjustment to the Total Due on the checkout page for two sets and combined shipping. Pictures show an Inner Bearing race for use with a half inch bolt in their original application, but as I only have very few of those (unless I find more of them when I dig out more wheels) they are not included unless requested at $2.00 extra for the set of 4. Without the inner race these will run on a 3/4 inch axle shaft or 3/4 inch bolt depending on what you’re using it for. These smooth solid hub wheels originally had a grease zerk in the end of the bolts that went through them which pumped the grease through the bolt, through the inner race and into the bearings. You should be able to drill& tapthe wheel hub for a grease fitting if you wanted to, or just hand pack the bearings when you put the wheels on. With the inner bearing race (not included, but available in short supply) in place they would mount on a 1/2 inch bolt , shaft , or rod.Without the inner bearing race and running the bearing directly on the axle shaft or larger bolt depending on application, it would mount on a 3/4 inch shaft, rod, or bolt, with a relatively smooth surface for the bearing to run on. Wouldn’t necessarily need to be hardened as long as you keep it well greased. If you wanted to run a larger heavier axle shaft on a hit and miss or throttle governed engine cart and not have it roll away from you when running, you could remove the bearing all together and use a 1.135 or 1.125 (1 1/8) with .005 to .015clearance shaft with the 1.140 outer bearing race in place or pop it out as well and go with a 1.187 (1 3/16) shaft in a 1.194 bore and keep it well greased. Or press in a brass or bronze bushing and use on a 1 inch shaft which would be easier to find.If you don’t have access to a metal lathe, another simple way mounting them would be to use lead or Babbitt bearings, which if you coat your axle shaft with graphite powder or acetelyne torch soot to keep the babbitt from sticking to it, and center it in the wheel you can pour the Babbitt right in the wheel around the axle with No Machine work required.Lead would normally be too soft to use as a bearing, but given the low speed these would be turning as cart wheels, it should be acceptable if you don’t have any Babbitt. Lead , Babbitt , or a machined bushing, would allow you to use most any size solid shaft , heavy water pipe , roll cage tubing , or what ever you have on hand for an axle. Hub diameter isroughly 2 inch being tapered from 1.900 at the outside to 2 1/8 near the center web so you could bore it out for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch shaft if need be and still be plenty strong enough. Hubs are 2.2 inches wide giving .100 clearance per side of the rim. With the bearing retainer washer/inserts having .090 thick flanges on them, you have a total of just over 3/16 (.187) clearance to keep them from rubbing depending on how you mount them, with or without the bearings. These are used Industrial shop cart / bar stock cart wheels that are useful and suitable for a variety of uses including : home or factory shop carts ,portablewelding table , heavy duty lawn mower wheels , bolt onto end of swinging gate to make it easier to open and close a heavy gate for horses or cattle , sliding garage / shop door idler wheel to hold door away from wall at bottom to cut down on dragging friction , hit and miss engine cart , heavy duty engine hoist / cherry picker wheels , roll around gantry crane , engine stand or tool box wheels, car dolly wheels for moving body around the shop during restoration , machine a crown on them and build your own English Wheel for sheet metal work , Saw Mill carriage , torch cart , welder cart , make a pair of heavy duty two wheel dollies , Hot Rod Pulling Tractor Wheelie Bar wheels , three wheeled deep throat band saw or other shop built wood working equipment , etc., etc.. If you need wheels, I’ve got wheels ! If you need super duper heavy duty wheels I have a few 6 inch by 3 inch wide monsters ( Not Pictured here but can be seen in my other Auctions ) with extra thick webbing and heavy duty bearings that would hold several tons , but I only have a handful of those and haven’t decided how many of them I am willing to part with yet. They (the three inch wide ones) are not for sale on this auction at this price. If you are interested in a set of them let me know and I may type upmore auction listings for them. They run on a 1 inch shaft With the Roller Bearing or 1 3/4 or larger without the bearing, and could be bored to 2 inch or larger. The 3 Inch wheels can Still Only Ship 4 to a box given the size and weight (over 50 pounds for 4 wheels) so I can’t do anything on combined shipping with them. I also have several sets of the 6×2 spoked wheels available with a couple different spoke patterns , but I need to get more of them dug out of storage. I plan to list more of those ASAP. Keep in mind with these or ANY Iron wheels (from Any Source) though, that even though they are heavy duty cast or forged wheels that will carry heavy loads and still roll smoothly, they aren’t indestructible. Iron will crack or break if you drop it, beat on it, or otherwise abuse it. Even an Anvil will break if you abuse it. I can’t be responsible for what you do or try to do with these. Selling As Is based on pictures and description with just a sample of possible uses for these. You may have other ideas of places to use some of them. . Payment to be in U.S. currency through PayPalonly as per ebay’s new policy! Buyers can stillREQUEST other forms of payment if they don’t have a PayPal account yet, or arange for local pickup with Cash if we can make the meeting arrangements. Flat Rate shipping available for United States bidders only. Insurance is Always Optional, never required, and will be $1.70 regaurdless of selling price. If they excede the dollar value covered by that, I will pay the difference. For now I have this listed as U.S. ONLY but if anyone is interested in International Shipping I may consider doing so, HOWEVER These exceed the 20 pound weight limit for International shipping using the Flat Rate box. If anyone is interested in International shipping, they would have to be repackaged in another box and use the USPS shipping calculator for your country from Zip Code 61032 Freeport Illinois USA . Figure around 22-24 lbs with packing materials anda 7×7x9 or larger packagefor a rough estimate for International shipping . If you don’t want the bearings, I could pop them out see if the weight falls below the 20 lb limit and maybe use the Flat Rate Box for other countries as well. Thanks For Looking , and Happy Bidding ! Please also checkout my other auctions as I get time to list them. Never know what I might list next from vintage car parts and accessories, to tools, toys, games, books, etc.etc.etc.
