Run Your Car on Wood, Charcoal, even Coconuts!Just like they did in WW II During WW II, motor vehicles all over Europe and in Japan were operated using “producer-gas” units. The Germans built some 500,000 producer-gas units, the Swedes and the Danes, cut off from gasoline supplies adopted gasifiers, and in Norway a whole industry sprang up to supply wood fuel for these units. In Asia vehicles ran on gas produced from coconut shells, and bamboo! But gasifier technology was already well understood long before WW II. The very earliest internal combustion “motor” used the explosive force of gas produced by a gasifier to raise water, and before the world switched to oil and natural gas, lighting gas to supply entire cities was produced by the gasification of coal, and the resulting coke used in steel furnaces! At the end of the 19th century many boats were powered by gasifiers and internal combustion engines. Producer gas was used to power factories. It is proven technology. I am offering not one but THREE detailed reports about producing gas for operating internal combustion engines from coal, from wood and wood chips, and from charcoal. The first is a reprint of the chapter on producer gas in The Internal Combustion Engine by H.E. Wimperis. Originally published in 1909 it shows the “state of the art” at the beginning of the 20th century (and it has really not been improved upon.) The second report contains information on one of the best charcoal gas-producers to emerge during WW II, a Swedish unit, that powered many cars, busses, and trucks. After the first energy crisis of the 1970’s FEMA, that’s right, the Federal Emergency Management Agency commissioned the design and construction of a gasifier unit that could be made at home…or really “on the farm” because the goal was to keep tractors operating in case gasoline was unavailable in an emergency! This is a GREAT report with complete materials list and step by step construction photos. You can build this out of a steel bucket, a drum, and a trash can and it WILL WORK. It’s designed to burn wood chips, the kind used for stable bedding and it’s actually an improvement on the WW II designs because the fuel hopper doesn’t have to be air-tight. In the 1980’s your government also funded research at the University of Florida and produced among other things, a demonstration motorcycle fueled by producer gas. Altogether there is 93 pages of hard-to-find information laser-printed on 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper staple bound. Producer Gas is a technology that may well be revived as oil prices continue to rise. Please see my other auctions. I have a good report on home charcoal makers. Charcoal is an excellent fuel for gas-producers. Incidentally, I will combine multiple reports for shipping purposes. I am offering this fascinating information for a modest price. Buyer pays flat rate shipping of $2.85 for first class mail delivery in the US, $9.80 for international delivery (Canada $4.60). Happy Bidding! US Shipping for this item is $2.85 Click here to see my other auctions
