CATERPILLAR 12F ROAD GRADERWith Ripper Attachment 1968 CATERPILLAR 12F ROAD GRADER! with ripper attachment. Serial number 13K1051. The Grader was purchased from a County Road Department in Central Kentucky. The County sold this unit because they bought a new grader in 2005. The grader runs and drives fine and was used up until this spring when it was sold. The grader has the original 6 cylinder diesel engine. We were told by county employees that the engine had been rebuilt by Wayne Supply Company in early 2000, with rebuild cost around $3,500. Wayne Supply also put new brake pads and lines on the unit last fall, but for some reason they could never get the brakes to pump up and hold pressure. Everything on the brake system is supposed to be new except for the master cylinder. The grader hydraulics work, but the pressure leaks off and allows the blade and front wheel hydraulics to leak off when the unit is not running. The grader runs off a 24 volt system, but the batteries are too weak to start the unit. Each time we have started the grader we have pull started it. The cab has some rust and the door on the left hand side does not close due to the hinge welds at the bottom of the door being broke. The cab has a heater, but no air. Some of the windows are cracked. Five of the tires are well worn, but hold air. The front tire on the left side looks as though it might be 4 - 6 years old with not much wear. The paint is original and has hot patch tar and rocks stuck to flat areas. The original owner’s manual is included. We were told by an old time county employee who operated the unit that the engine was strong, and he hated to see it go. If you have any questions, please email.
